The recent Democratic National Committee (DNC) fundraiser in San Francisco was hosted by President Obama and Kanye West. Even though Kanye closed the event with a concert, the highlight of this event may have been President Obama’s speech where he offered West some sage advice.
While the whole world is watching the GOP struggle to find a candidate, the President used his humor and wit to address the situation by suggesting Kanye as a candidate for Speaker of the House:
You may have heard about this. Kanye is thinking about running for speaker of the House. It couldn’t get any stranger.
When Kanye announces his interest in being Speaker later, remember: President Obama gave him the idea.
With Kanye in attendance, Obama offered him some advice, just in case he was serious about running for president in 2020:
First of all, you’ve got to spend a lot of time with some strange characters who behave like they’re on a reality TV show. You’ve got to be cool with that. Second, saying that you have a beautiful dark twisted fantasy? That’s what’s known as off-message in politics. You can’t say something like that. And number three, do you really think that this country is going to elect a black guy from the South Side of Chicago [with a] funny name?
One thing is for sure: President Obama has one hell of a sense of humor, but he’s spot on — especially when addressing the GOP’s inability to find a suitable Republic*nt candidate.
