As much as I love Larry Wilmore, I have to admit that my weeknights seem a bit emptier without the wit and satire of Stephen Colbert. Fortunately, he’ll be back on the air on September 8th on The Late Show.
So far, we really don’t know what to expect from this new incarnation of Colbert. He’s sure not to be the Bill O’Reilly/Sean Hannity inspired character he’s played for 10 years on Comedy Central, but his surprise release of videos this past week could give us a hint.
In the videos, Colbert is sitting in a cubicle at work with the premise that people at work eat alone at their desks watching YouTube videos like his. Monday’s video began, in fact each video begins, with the type of humor we’re used to from The Colbert Report but each takes a much darker turn. The best line? “I can’t go back in, they don’t know my sleep number.”
There’s even an appearance from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service and they tweeted this:

Here you go, enjoy, but you might want to think twice before friending Colbert:
Don’t worry, he should be out of Fish and Wildlife jail by September 8th. Oops, I said too much.
