When he left his show on Comedy Central, many thought Stephen Colbert was walking away from political humor. We can all be relieved that it will continue when he begins hosting “The Late Show” later this year, though, as Colbert made clear in this video, released the same date (June 16) of Donald Trump’s campaign announcement.
And the former host of “The Colbert Report” did so in a character that looks, sounds, and practically tastes like Trump, too. It’s brash, crass, crude, unrefined, Noo Yawk – the epitome of Trump himself!
I agree with The Donald that America is dead, buried in a coffin, in salted earth, with our enemies p*ssing on it and laughing. […] Donald Trump is the only man who can dig up the corpse of that nation and marry it.
And, yes, it’s a promo for Colbert’s upcoming return to television in September, too.
Donald Trump for president of the United States is not just great for America; it’s great for late night television because Donald’s presidential campaign has inspired me, Stephen Colbert, to announce that I will still be hosting ‘The Late Show’ on CBS.
