Protests are a powerful tool in a democratic society, but using humor to drive that point home is even better.
Dallas News reported that scores of University of Texas students joyously wielded sex toys at a huge campus rally during the first day of classes, protesting a new state law that allows concealed handguns in college classrooms, buildings and dorms. Calling their inventive protest #CocksNotGlocks, the anti-gun rally is slated to be the biggest in Texas history.
“We are strapping gigantic swinging dildos to our backpacks,” Jessica Jin, an organizer of the event who recently graduated from UT-Austin, told Dallas News. “Just about as effective at protecting us from sociopathic shooters, but much safer for recreational play.”
Jin’s intent is to lambaste the perceived irony that sex toys are banned on campus while Rambo guns are gladly permitted. Texas law defines “obscenity” on campus as “a dildo or artificial vagina, designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs,” Dallas News reported. I guess the only thing that stops a bad guy with a dildo is a good guy with a dildo.

AUSTIN — Jessica Jin had just a few hours to hide a couple hundred sex toys.
They couldn’t stay put, piled high in a friend’s place near campus. The girl’s conservative Christian parents were coming to visit her at school, and she told Jin she needed them gone, fast.
Then, they remembered that just across town, a group of professors were meeting that night to commiserate over the state’s new law allowing licensed gun-owners to carry concealed weapons on campuses. So the girls phoned a friend.
That’s how 20 boxes of Singaporean-made sex toys were secreted into Ellen Spiro’s attic one night last November.
On Wednesday, those sex toys will be the focus of what could be the biggest protest anti-gun protest in the state’s history, and certainly the largest since campus carry became law earlier this month.
The images are already pouring in on Twitter:
And here’s another fact check for mouth-foaming ammosexuals: the numbers on arming college students show the risks outweigh the benefits. But the number of deaths on college campuses by dildos still stands at zero. So kudos to Jin and her fellow college students on taking on the NRA with this unique protest.
