John Oliver Crucifies Redskins For Defending Name: ‘Shank The B*tch’ Game Doesn’t Make It OK (VIDEO)

The Washington Redskins aren’t pleased with the fact that their trademark was revoked by a federal court because it “disparages people.” Their defense is just about the most ridiculous thing you’ll hear today — in between Ben Carson stories.

John Oliver does a fantastic job of making a complete mockery of the NFL team that refuses to understand that their name is offensive to Native Americans. In a recent court filing, Redskins owner Dan Snyder cited some other Trademarks that haven’t been revoked even though they’re not quite socially acceptable. Names like the “Shank The B*tch” board game apparently make it OK for Snyder’s organization to continue being racist and disparaging.

How hard would it be, really, for Washington fans to get over a name change? “Houston Texans” sound like it’s always been there, and while it’s technically an expansion team, “Oilers” fans have embraced it just fine. How about those Baltimore “Ravens?” After losing their team to Indy, the new name has become as iconic in Maryland as softshell crab.

Washington fans will get over it.
