The Starbucks holiday cups have dominated social media as if they were Kim Davis refusing to issue marriage licenses. Plain red with a green logo, the misunderstood holiday cups were meant to appeal to everyone, not just those who believe in Jesus.
The company has stated that the cups were meant as a palette for people of all spiritual doctrines to enjoy during the wondrous holiday season. That wasn’t good enough for conservatives, of course, who declared the cups a weapon in the fictitious “War On Christmas.”
Colbert had himself a jolly good time on Wednesday’s Late Show pointing out just how silly this “controversy” is, how ridiculous the idiot who started it is and how to truly put the “Christ” back in Christmas. As always, his take on it uniquely Colbert and takes a hard left turn towards hilarious.
