Republican governors across America are really trying to outd*ck one another about rejecting Syrian refugees. Considering the revelation that at least one of the Paris terrorists who killed more than 120 people had a Syrian passport, it’s perfectly reasonable to show caution and careful examination with regards to accepting Syrian refugees.
But the fact remains that many these Republicans overlook one key component of Christmas: a Middle Eastern family seeking refuge.
For most of us, Christmas is a two-month corporate orgy in which we celebrate the birth of the smart phone. Even though it’s a Pagan holiday, a great many Christians hold it dear and near.
And that’s cool, if its spirit and narrative are truly embraced.
For example, an image of a sign at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in St. John’s, Canada recently went viral on Imgur after being posted on December 6.
See image below:
Clearly the message is intended to remind Christians about the original refugees from the Middle East. Regardless, it’s quite refreshing to finally see a church sign that doesn’t scream about “gays” being responsible for the apocalypse — or something about worshiping fetuses.
