A super “responsible” gun owning dad was arrested on Saturday for accidentally shooting his 10-year-old daughter while showing off his gun to his friends.
Steven Johnson, 53, pulled out his handgun in his Texas home Saturday to show it off to guests at his house, like a child would pull out a toy. Unfortunately for his daughter, the ammosexual didn’t know how to properly handle the gun, it discharged, went through a wall and struck his kid in the hand.
The girl’s mother drove her to a hospital and from there she was airlifted to another one. She has been released and will be okay, thankfully.
This case is different than the usual ammosexual gun accident case, because police actually did something. Johnson was arrested on one count of injury to a child and released on a $2,500 bond.
According to the Texas Penal Code, injury to a child is a felony count. That means that if Mr. Super Responsible Gun Owner is found guilty, he will no longer be legally allowed to own a firearm.
A 2014 report released by Yale professor Dr. John Leventhal, says that more than 7,000 children are injured or killed by guns in this country every year:
More than half of the gun injuries involved an attack on the child, but nearly one-third were unintentional, the investigators found. (Others were of undetermined causes or from suicide attempts.) Three of four hospitalizations of children younger than 10 resulted from accidental injuries.
That’s an incredibly high number! Yet you rarely hear of gun owners being charged with an offense when a kid is hurt. Why is that?
Gun safety is a hot topic on this country. Whenever we (liberals) speak out about it, we are accused of stomping all over the Second Amendment by gun nuts. These people are so blinded by the ammosexual propaganda the right spews that they can’t see the big picture: kids are being hurt all the time.
The little girl in this latest accident is lucky, the bullet went through her hand. But it could have very easily been her head.
The Texas police who decided to charge this father are the kind of cops we need more of. We need police that will look past all of the pro-gun bullsh*t and let people know that it is unacceptable.
If you do not know how to properly handle a gun, you shouldn’t own one. Period.
