You know, to be so “pro-life,” anti-choice types sure do love them some violence. Another one of these loons has been arrested for attacking a clinic. This time it is 52-year-old Melanie Marie Toney, who threw a molotov cocktail at a Planned Parenthood in South Austin, TX.
Toney wasn’t immediately forthcoming with the fact that she was the one who threw the explosive device. After all, how can she crusade for the rights of globs of goo over those of their living, breathing, female hosts, and harass rape victims from a jail cell? Eventually, though, she had to come clean.
At the time of the incident, Toney covered her license plate during the drive-by assault, but information from a group of peaceful, anti-choice protesters who were holding a prayer vigil outside the Planned Parenthood at the time, led police to Toney, who eventually said that yes, she tossed the explosive out of her car window at the clinic and that it “might” have been smoldering as she did so.
Ruth Allwein, with the Texas Alliance For Life (ironic name, that), said that she managed to avert a bigger disaster that could have resulted from Toney’s actions by putting the bottle out and removing the wick.
Toney has been arrested and charged with felony aggravated assault, and was thrown in the clink on $25,000 bond. Hopefully, she stays there, as she is clearly dangerous.
Now, the arrest warrant said that Toney’s motives are unknown at this time. However, pro-choice people do not toss explosives at facilities that provide abortions. Of course, the Texas Alliance for Life folks think they were the target, as Ruth Allwein told police.
However, that makes absolutely no sense. Peaceful protest is something liberals are generally in favor of. It’s those who wish to take our choices and freedoms away who have that “my way or the highway” mentality. They are also the ones famed for doing things like, oh, blowing up abortion clinics. I think it is pretty safe to say that Melanie Marie Toney is likely in that camp, no matter what the arrest affidavit says.
Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas President Ken Lambrecht told local news station KVUE:
We are just very sad this happened and we are thankful no one was hurt. The health and safety of anyone coming in or near Planned Parenthood Health Center is of the utmost importance to us.
I concur. That’s class and rationality, something these anti-choice types could use a bit of.
